TIME: THE TATTING
An Homage to our Grandmothers
The tatting is an homage and a souvenir of the old and smart creations, made by generations of women.
Named tatting, or “frivolité”, it is a very soft lace, cotton or flax thread handmade by our grandmothers: a very long tradition in their times.
They dedicated a lot of time to make those embroideries, and they represented for them a moment for resting or having fun.
Their work was a moment for love and beauty, as well.
The embroidery was made for trousseau or woman’s wears.
We can see them for trimming chairs, settees or lampshades.
Ability, passion and patience kept up with each other.

TIME: MONDAYS AT THE RESTAURANT
Time for relaxation
time for sensations:
sight, taste, smell, hearing, touch.
Time for love
to be listened,
and listening to others.
Time to share:
reason together,
time for……giving.
Time to have fun:
and laugh like a child
full of irony,and trust.
Time for emotions:
optimism, of loving
relationships, of change.
Time to get a rose every monday.

INFINITE: FLOWERS OF TIME
I realized this work when I was attending a course held by the great designer Gianfranco Ferrè.
He suggested to create something with a device to tie a dress to the body, but he told me to be fearless to create something exceeding the usual fashion designs.
I started from the heart part (where to attach the silk of the décolté), when I thought that we are made of intelligence, as well, I connected and pointed out these two aspects – the mind and the heart – and I succeeded in giving a suitable shape.
As a result I had a big circle, twisted on itself (the infinite symbol) that gives a meaning to the whole creation.
In this dimension, the mind and the heart can find heir formal equilibrium with mediation and time.

LABYRINTH: AN INITIATORY TRIP
The tortuous ways of the Labyrinth tell us about the inner presence of something very precious and sacred.
The Entrance of the Labyrinth, and the ways to go along and make for the centre, bring about a detachment from the external world
and its times.
Living alone with one’s consciousness and devoid of any reference, we could lose the connection between Space and Time.
So the Labyrinth, is the way to go into oneself, towards the most mysterious part of human feelings, deprived of consciousness if
not present on the long path (spiral) of a deep meditation.
This will let to reach the final intuition, to understand sacred entity and the necessary time to find it.

GOTHIC ART AND THE GOTIQUE RING
Gothic Art is a period in the story of Western art that begins about in the middle of the XII century, in France.
The Gothic style is a phenomenon of European importance, with very complicated features.
It affected every branch of the artistic production, and gave a strong development in the minor artistic forms as well, such as:
goldsmith’s, ivory engraving, stained glasses, fabrics, miniatures.
Very special is the cross-ogival vault, that can create rectangular spans instead of square ones.
This cross-ogival vault has been the inspiration for my Gotique ring. I have used – with the other ones – in the Home page of the Vogue Gioiello website, for many months.
